Ghana "Fifty Years of Independence" Jay Dunn 25 images Created 27 Mar 2008

West Africa, Ghana, Accra, 2007. In 1957, the former Gold Coast became the first West African country to gain its independence. Many citizens feel a disconnect between rosy government economic figures and the reality of their lives on the street. But in the heady days leading up to the Fiftieth Anniversary of Independence on March 6th, 2007, ordinary Ghanaians of every stripe could not have been more positive about their prospects. -- More at www.jaydunn.org --
