India "Secrets" Jay Dunn 17 images Created 27 Mar 2008

India, 1999. "Secrets" --

This project began in 1999 as one artist's attempt to preserve some of the mood and mystery of India. In some of the ancient ways, a certain perfection has been attained: few of us would ever need to know the simple secrets of the Khuri village potter, or that at river's edge the hands crafting a boat worthy of the Ganges were as strong and flexible as the wood itself, but it surely would be a shame should any of these skills somehow be lost.

In everyday existence, there is here a poetry that has all but disappeared from most of our daily lives. So caught up as we are with technology, we often fail to see the beauty of the work right in front of us, on the land beneath our feet, in the water flowing by.
