The Moscow Metro, which serves around 7 million riders a day, has 17 lines. It is world famous for the beauty of many of its stations, where architectural details and decorative elements make each unique. A cosmopolitan city with a nearly 900 year history, Moscow is Russia's financial and administrative capital and home to many of the country's most recognizable architectural gems. Spread over 2500 square kilometers, the city is served by four airports and three ring roads. With a population of 13 million, Moscow is the second-most populated city in Europe after Istanbul.
