“Respect Through Sacrifice,” Salinas artist Liam Da Leo’s well-attended opening on Friday, November 1st at the National Steinbeck Center, brought together disparate influences and an edgy attitude to the Monterey County art scene. Featuring graffiti themes, bold colors, and layered textures, the exhibit drew all kinds of art patrons, welcoming the public with cold beer, modern music courtesy of DJ Sergio Lombris, and hip-hop performances and dance from Verenice Portela, Onhel EyeYella, Kas Once, Caleb, Andrew Echo and ATC.
