A parishioners takes time in silence to say her prayers in the Transfiguration Cathedral in the Uglich Kremlin. The devout usually stand in Russian Orthodox services, and there are no musical instruments. The unadorned voices of choir members offer a pure and beautiful contrast to these richly decorated interior spaces. As one of Russia's "Golden Ring" cities, Uglich is designated a town of significant cultural and historic importance.
