On the Virginia Rocca Barton playground at lunchtime, peer mediator Esmeralda Macias is readily available for students to consult. In an effort to end violence and bullying in schools, volunteers from Restorative Justice Partners, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, helped teach administrators and students mediation skills, creating alternative ways to resolve disputes and foster empathy, accountability and fairness.
