Alma Garcia, a teacher at Frank Paul Elementary School, with her daughter Mia Mendez, 2, and son Arih Mendez, 9 picketing outside Bardin Elementary School before a scheduled meeting of the Alisal School Board on Wednesday, October 9th in Salinas. Members of the Alisal Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association were protesting the cancellation of school board meetings, and the lack of adequate textbooks and classroom materials for the 2013/2014 school year.
